Ex-Machina: A History of Generative Art

In 2022, Phillips collaborated with Georg Bak and Benjamin Kandler on an extraordinary curated exhibition and online auction titled "Ex-Machina: A History of Generative Art", showcasing early computer art, video art, and digital art.
The exhibition embarked on a captivating journey through the history of generative art, captivating visitors with its remarkable collection. The preview was held in the Phillips Paris galleries from 31 May to 17 June, followed by a spectacular showcase in the Phillips London galleries from 11 July to 5 August.
Ex-Machina traced the rich legacy of generative art, featuring the visionary works of pioneers such as Vera Molnar, Herbert W. Franke, and Gottfried Jäger. The exhibition also unveiled previously unseen masterpieces by generative NFT artists Snowfro and Dmitri Cherniak, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own these groundbreaking creations.
The online auction, held from 13 to 20 July, provided art enthusiasts with the chance to acquire these extraordinary artworks and become a part of the generative art revolution. The event was a resounding success, celebrating the pioneering spirit of generative art and its transformative impact on the art world.
